E-phence started as a personal project, not a commercial venture.
In 2004, my wife Aileen and I set out to find a wrought iron and stone fence that reflected our personal tastes. We quickly realised there was a sizeable gap between what we wanted and the quality of fences available.
So I decided to design and build my own wrought iron fence; which quickly ignited a new passion

I have spent years researching Melbourne's extraordinary 19th century heritage in wrought iron and stonework; a tradition that grew from the enormous riches of the gold rush.That research informs everything we do.
Every installation is rooted in an understanding of the period, the materials, and the craftsmanship that defined Melbourne's finest properties.

A very personal service, from first meeting to final fitting.
I personally manage all aspects of your project; from the first meeting and initial drawings through to the final fitting of the gate lock or automatic opening system.
We’ll also ensure they complement the architecture and era of your property, from contemporary style to ornate Victorian.
We retain the services of highly skilled blacksmiths, stone masons, carpenters and wood carvers for specialist tasks.
We also work closely with local producers who strive for the same standard of excellence, ensuring our materials are of the highest quality.

We are very gratified to see our installations enhancing heritage houses in well-established suburbs of Melbourne. Our restorations also help retain the traditions of some of Melbourne's leading educational institutions.
